BUTTON NECKLACE #7

SUPPLIES NEEDED:      Cotton Crochet Thread 
                                           Crochet Hook, size 8 
                                           170 Buttons, assorted sizes and colors 
                                           1 Shank Button 
                                           1 Large Sewing Needle 
                                           Scissors
 
ABBREVIATIONS:         sl st = slip stitch 
                                           ch = chain 

CROCHET INSTRUCTIONS for the above stitches appear at the bottom of this page

NOTE: Thread a large sewing needle with the cotton thread and string all 150 buttons onto the thread before starting to crochet.

FIRST STRAND: Ch 20, slide a button up, ch 1, slide another button up, ch 1, until there are 40 buttons on the strand, ch 20, then fasten off, leaving a tail.

SECOND STRAND: Ch 30, slide up a button, ch 1, slide up a button, ch 1 and repeat until there are 40 buttons on the strand, ch 30, fasten off, leaving another tail.

THIRD STRAND: Ch 40, slide up a button, ch 1, continue until there are 40 buttons on the strand, ch 40, fasten off leaving a tail.

FOURTH STRAND: Ch 50, slide up a button, ch 1, repeat until there are 50 buttons on the strand, ch 50, fasten off, leaving a thread tail.

TIE the ends together. Attach a thread to one of the tied ends, ch 10, sl st to beginning of ch to form a buttonhole.

TIE a shank button to the other end.
