.........Chocolate Cherry Cake


............................................... This Chocolate Cherry Cake won the Best-of-Show at the Michigan State Fair in the category: 
Cakes: My Favorite Recipe.  Simple to make and mixed by hand.  It will be a favorite with
everyone who likes chocolate!  The cake I entered into the Fair competition was made as a
torte with vanilla-rum frosting.

  1 box Chocolate Fudge Cake Mix (or dark chocolate)
  2 eggs
  1 can Cherry Pie Filling
  1 teaspoon Almond Flavoring
  1 can chocolate frosting (ready to spread)
   
  My Variation Rum Frosting: 1 can vanilla frosting with 1 tsp rum flavoring
  Directions 
  Hand mix the cake mix, flavoring, eggs and cherry pie filling in a large bowl until it forms a wet batter.  It will be thick and bumpy.
Pour the mixture into a 9" x 13" baking pan and bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
When cooled, frost with the canned frosting.
